You may have to check in again when the next flight is not processed as part of the same through journey. This is common with separately booked tickets or a self-connection. Depending on the airport and itinerary, you may need to collect baggage, enter the departures process again and obtain or verify a new boarding pass.

The FlyAndCry definition
The airline has forgotten you in a legally fresh location.
Re-check-in asks a passenger to repeat the ritual because the second booking has no emotional relationship with the first. Your name is unchanged. Your passport is unchanged. The system, however, would like to meet everyone again under brighter lighting.
When does it happen?
It can happen on separate tickets, some transfers between airlines, or itineraries where baggage is not checked through. Requirements vary by airport, route, airline agreements and border procedures. Confirm them before travel rather than assuming that two flights displayed in one email have formed a family.
If bags are not transferred, follow signs to the baggage carousel, collect them and complete the next airline’s check-in and bag-drop steps. Leave enough time beyond the optimistic geometry of the connection.
Why does the system not remember you?
It remembers perfectly. It remembers your email, browsing history, seat preference and every box you forgot to untick. It simply cannot remember that the person who landed five minutes ago is related to the person now attempting to depart.
Each ticket is raised as an only child. The second booking has never heard of the first and is advised not to speak to strangers. Your baggage is treated as a dependent whose custody must be renegotiated under fluorescent lighting.
The ritual of administrative rebirth
First collect the suitcase you hoped never to see during the connection. Then carry it through a terminal designed as a cardio test for the recently seated. Present the same passport, answer the same questions and receive a fresh document confirming that you continue to exist.
If the process finishes in time, you are reborn as a departing passenger. If it does not, your old itinerary is pronounced dead and the new one is placed on standby so the paperwork can grieve at its own pace.
At FlyAndCry
Every FlyAndCry segment is a new relationship. Passengers must check in again after terminal changes, gate changes, major life changes and any prolonged eye contact with another carrier.
Our kiosk asks the same questions until one answer becomes chargeable. Customers who complete the process before departure receive a commemorative boarding group. Customers who do not become source material for the Connection Concierge.
